Social media automation can help you free up time so that you can focus on growing your business. Automation can also ensure that you are consistent at publishing content across all social media channels. The more consistent you are on social media, the more traffic you can potentially send to your website.

For small to medium business it can be difficult to manage social media channels, giving them the attention they require. While I am not saying 100% of your content should automated, automating 60-70% of your content will give your social platforms consistency in pushing out your most relevant content.

How does it work?

A web application such as hootsuite which is free for 30 days and then starts at €25 per month there after, can be used to connect all of your social media channels together in the one place such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. From there you can schedule posts to all social media platforms. Other tools are available, hootsuite is the one that I currently use.

How to start?

You should start with a content calendar. Download a calendar template for any given month and fill the content headings around your business.

Lets take a gym for example, they have a timetable of classes so they could schedule posts across all social media channels for each class a month in advance. They can measure the metrics and see at a what time of the day posts are getting the most interaction, then they can change the schedule of all other posts to the most popular time.

Trying to do this task consistently on a daily basis across all platforms at the same time each day manually is a difficult task for any business.

Automating social media makes it possible to sit down once a week/month and schedule your main content. Your social media platforms will have consistent content being published at times when your audience is most active.

There is also days in any given month that you can schedule posts for such as Valentines day, St. Patricks day and any other holiday or event that is in the current month. Around the automatic posts you can add in you additional content that you have regarding your business.
